Footage shows how tourists were left trapped in mid-air on a swing ride high above the ground when a sudden power cut caused the ride to stop working.

The horror ride in Jiaozuo in Henan, China, left visitors stranded roughly 50 feet off the ground on March 13.

The footage, filmed by a young woman on the ride, shows several people sitting helplessly in their seats after the share ride suddenly lost power and stopped halfway through.

The following day, amusement park staff stated that a component had overheated, triggering a self-protection mode that had caused the equipment to shut down.

Visitors were stuck in the air for two to three minutes before being lowered down by a safety harness, according to local media reports.

They added that the defective part has since been replaced, and the ride has resumed its normal operation.
