This is the world famous Lathmar Holi of Barsana village of Mathura district. This tradition has been going on since the time of Lord Krishna. The cowherds of nearby Nand village act as the friends of Lord Krishna and the Gopis of Barsana, who are the beloved of Lord Krishna, act as his friends. These gopis shower sticks on these cowherds as a sign of love and along with traditional singing, the cowherds sing songs about the gopis and instigate them to shower sticks. This view can be seen across the world only in village Barsana of Mathura district. This is also the village of Radha Rani. There is also a huge temple of Radharani on her mountain. Lakhs of people from India and abroad come here to enjoy it.
