A pair of pine martens were filmed swinging on ropes and playfighting in a couple’s garden.

When Les Humphreys set up a swingset at his home in Ardnamurchan, Scottish Highlands, he had no idea just how much of a hit it would be with the local wildlife.

Adorable footage shows the critically endangered mammals jumping all over the swing before one leaps to a nearby rope and hanging upside down.

The playful pair then started tussling over supremacy on the swing, even pushing each other on to the grass below.

Les said: “They are highly amusing and delightful to watch, much better than television.

“They’re full of fun and energy. Sometimes their play goes on for hours and can get a bit rough.

“The pine martens come by every night and frequently during the day from Spring to Autumn. They have being coming since we moved here in 2004.

“We can get up to 12 martens per night. We also get a badger most nights, a fox occasionally, an otter, Roe deer, resident weasels, water shrews, bank voles and wood mice and numerous bird species."
