English musician Ed Sheeran sent Indian fans wild when he sang in Punjabi during his Mathematics concert tour in the country.

The singer-songwriter wowed the crowd as he collaborated with local artist Diljit Dosanjh to sing the latter's hit song 'Lover' onstage at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai, India, on March 16.

Footage shows the Grammy award winner, who was wearing a black shirt with 'Mumbai' printed on the back, strumming his guitar as he sang Punjabi lyrics during the upbeat duet.

Sheeran shared the performance on social media, writing online: 'Got to bring out Diljit Dosanjh tonight in Mumbai and sing in Punjabi for the first time. I've had such an incredible time in India, more to come!'

The singer was in the middle of his Asia and Europe tour that included a concert in India.

Sheeran also attended a lavish celebration hosted by Bollywood star Farah Khan a day earlier on March 15.

This is his second tour in India, following his first visit in 2017.
