Coast guard officers rescued a stranded dog in the sea in Cork, Ireland.

The Irish Coast Guard officers arrived with the Atlantic 85 class lifeboat to help Dixie, a terrier mixed breed pooch who fell from the cliff on March 19 morning.

Footage shows two officers swimming in the water with Dixie while being pulled by a rope attached to the boat.

The crew, led by new helm David Ryan, swiftly launched the Atlantic 85 class lifeboat with crew members Jerry Smith, Kieran Collins, and Eoin O'Driscoll onboard.

Upon arriving at the scene, the crew found Dixie, a dog, sheltering under a rock ledge after managing to swim ashore.

Quick-thinking crew members Kieran and Eoin entered the sea, braving the cold waters to retrieve the stranded dog.

Dixie was taken onto the lifeboat and safely reunited with her relieved owner on shore.

Kate Callanan, Baltimore RNLI Lifeboat Press Officer, commended the crew for their swift response and successful rescue.

She emphasized the importance of safety when walking near the coast with pets, reminding dog owners not to attempt risky rescues themselves but to call the emergency services for assistance.
