The serious public order events recorded on Saturday 16 March 2024 in the town of Toribio (Cauca), in which members of FARC dissidents attacked the Nasa community and left one person dead and two more injured, led the President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro, to suspend the bilateral ceasefire with this armed group, led by alias Ivan Mordisco.
Infobae Colombia learned of decree 0385, dated Sunday 17 March 2024, with which the head of state put an end to the truce, which had been in force since 14 January - for about six months - until 15 July. This means, from the outset, a crisis in the talks, which have reached their fourth round of negotiations, after the meeting held in San Jose del Guaviare, which was extended until 10 March, and in the run-up to the meeting in Ocana (Norte de Santander).
