Guest awakens to bed crawling with bugs at midnight in Chinese hotel
A man awakened to the bed crawling with bugs at midnight in a hotel in southern China.
Shocking video filmed in Jingdezhen City in Jiangxi Province on March 16, shows an abundance of black bugs crawling on the bedsheet and pillows. Additionally, the ceiling and walls were also covered in the insects.
Distressed by the ordeal, the guest expressed, "This incident has greatly affected me, causing psychological trauma. I can't sleep well now, and I will continue to seek justice."
A spokesperson for the hotel where the incident occurred disclosed that in their eight years of operation, this was the first time encountering such a situation.
The man's room fee was refunded afterward, although he remained dissatisfied. Initially, the proposed solution was a refund of the room fee and a complimentary room change. However, the guest refused, insisting on a hospital examination.
Despite agreeing to accompany the guest for a medical check-up, he declined and demanded compensation.
Regarding the origin of the black bugs, the hotel representative explained, "We have never encountered this situation before. These bugs might have flown in through the open windows. It was a humid night, and rain was imminent, so flying insects were seeking sources of light."
Local social affairs bureau officials confirmed joint inspections with market supervision departments at the implicated hotel.
A staff member from the local police station revealed that later, the hotel owner accompanied the guest to undergo a medical examination. However, issues regarding the compensation demanded by the guest need to be resolved through mutual negotiation, with specifics remaining unclear.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
