Commercial building fire with explosion Seven Points Pennsylvania
Commercial building destroyed by blaze Just before 3pm units were alert to a reported working commercial building fire in Rockefeller township, Northumberland county.
As units went enroute they were advised reports of flames already through the roof with report of explosion heard.
Command reported a thermal column visible from a distance and master streams were set up as units arrived.
Due to the rural local a tanker task force alarm was struck to help bring water to the scene.
The building, which was a complete loss, was reported used to store wood shavings.
No employees were injuries during the fire with reports of them backing a tractor trailer filled with shavings into the building not long before the fire was noticed.
Units from Snyder, Dauphin, Northumberland and Union counties spent several hours at the blaze before being placed available.
14:45 hrs. Northumberland County dispatched a fully involved commercial building fire with fire showing along with the roof collapsing and multiple explosions at 426 Lahr Road, Seven Points, Rockefeller Township, Pa.
Stonington Fire Chief Kerry Yordy assumed command and upgraded the box to include a tanker task force due to limited water in the farming area. The Chief stated “When we got here the fire was already through the roof and the roof had collapsed. It was burning inside the building and its contents,” “There were two piles of shavings that were dumped off weeks ago that were stored in the building.”
It is believed that an employee backed a tractor-trailer loaded with shavings into the building caused the shavings to catch fire. It is also believed that the explosions were from either a propane tank, tires or smoke explosions.
No injuries were reported in this incident.
