Marine rescuers saved a seal that was stuck between rocks in New Hampshire.

Footage shows the members of the Seacoast Science Centre Marine Mammal Rescue searching for the female gray seal pup that was spotted under the boulder gaps at the Frost Point in Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on March 13.

The animal became trapped in a crevice on the jetty during extreme high tides over the weekend and Monday.

Ashley Stokes, director of SSC Marine Mammal Conservation, expressed relief that the seal was spotted and reported in time.

The seal pup was exhausted and dehydrated but appeared to be in good health overall.

The rescue effort was challenging due to the seal's aggressive behaviour and the difficult conditions of the crevice she was stuck in.

After a 30-minute rescue operation, the seal pup was successfully extracted from the jetty and brought back to the Seacoast Science Center for evaluation.

The team determined that the best course of action was to administer fluids, electrolytes, and glucose supplements to assist with her recovery.

Following treatment, the seal pup was released back into the wild. This was the first-ever response to a live seal stuck in a jetty for the Seacoast Science Center Marine Mammal Rescue team, which has been operating since 2014.

The team reminded the public to respect federal guidelines and stay 150 feet away from marine mammals to ensure their safety and protection.
