A video emerged on March 20 of women stuffing a ballot box with votes in St. Petersburg during Russia's presidential election.

Footage from the Admiralteysky district shows placing multiple sheets of paper into the ballot before shaking it around.

The Electoral Commission of St. Petersburg has announced an investigation into the matter.

The main figure in the video, chairwoman Irina Minyakova, denied the authenticity of the footage, claiming to have left the premises before the incident occurred.

However, concerns arose on the second day of the elections when a member of the polling station raised doubts about the integrity of the ballot box contents, prompting an unsuccessful request for further examination.

Vladimir Putin claimed a landslide victory in the election.
