Three workers were injured when a beam collapsed at a construction site in central Thailand.

Staff were pouring concrete when the beam they were standing on gave way, plunging them to the ground at the floodgate construction site in Nakhon Pathom on March 19.

Srithai Thepchanta, 54, Atthaphon Somnuk, 56, and Narong Suttakarn, 54, were buried under iron scaffolding and debris, with Narong being covered in wet cement.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Suchada Saengchai of the Phutthamonthon police station said officers were notified of the collapse at 10:40 am.

Rescuers arrived at the scene, where rebars were seen hanging over the edge of a concrete wall.

Emergency services pulled out the three injured men and rushed them to the Phutthamonthon Hospital. No casualties were reported.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Suchada said: 'During the incident, there were 11 workers pouring concrete. During the process, the supporting structure under them collapsed, causing injuries to three construction workers who were sent to the hospital.

'There will be an engineering evaluation to see if the incident occurred due to a structural defect. Cases of negligence resulting in serious injury may be filed.'
