An Argentine scholar has hailed the improvement in Chinese people's well-being, noting thzat the Chinese democracy really works.

He made the remarks in an interview with Xinhua on the sideline of an international forum on democracy held in Beijing on Wednesday.

"People's welfare is fundamental to democracy. China has managed in the last years, in the last decades, to continuously improve the life of the people. 
There are so many universities (in China), so many graduates in those universities that find jobs that are able to contribute to the development of society. That's a very specific way of improvement of democracy, to have more people access the benefits, not just of material, wealth, but also cultural and educational wealth. That's very important.
If you travel to China, you would realize that the life conditions have been improved in many many senses. And that I think has to do with a form of leadership that has the people participate in that decision-making process. And that's a way of democracy that really works."
