STORYLINE:
Chinese enterprises have made headway in fostering high-quality development through sci-tech innovation.
Jomoo, a bathroom fittings enterprise in east China's Fujian, is one of them.
It has been dedicated to upgrading toilet manufacturing by engaging robots in its smart factory.
With the help of the 5G network and AI technology, the smart "lights-out" factory has greatly improved its efficiency and reduced energy use.
SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): SU ZHEN, General Manager of International Business Unit, JOMOO Group
"Since 2010, Jomoo has started to seek industrial transformation towards intelligent manufacturing. For example, we invested in an intelligent toilet production line, which is a so-called 'lights-out' smart factory. It helps reduce costs and enhance the delivery efficiency.
Jomoo emphasizes sci-tech innovation and focuses on the layout of future industries. Regarding the robot industry, we invested nearly 6 billion yuan (around 834 million U.S. dollars) in Fujian's Quanzhou City in September last year to establish a manufacturing base for household robots, which is expected to achieve an output value of around 30 billion yuan (around 4.17 billion U.S. dollars) in the future."
Riding on the wave of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Jomoo has also fastened its pace of exploring overseas markets by tailoring products through innovation.
SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): SU ZHEN, General Manager of International Business Unit, JOMOO Group
"We always adhere to sci-tech innovation and strive to integrate globalization with localization in the overseas markets.
For example, we adhere to providing high-standard products through innovation to bring our clients a good experience.
At the same time, we highlight the localization strategy in other countries. For instance, our smart toilets exported to the Middle East market are without the heating function as it is unnecessary there.
So we will improve functions of our products through sci-tech innovation to better satisfy consumers' experience and meet their needs for convenience."
