At 12:16 a.m. the Riverside County Fire Department received reports of a vehicle collision with fire at the intersection of Butterfield Stage Road and Calafia Street in the city of Temecula. First arriving units found one vehicle rolled over that had struck a fire hydrant and now fully involved with fire that spread to nearby vegetation. One patient was out of the vehicle before units arrived. The patient was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. Fire crews were unable to stop the flow of water from the broken hydrant so Rancho Water was requested to the scene. The driver was taken into custody for suspected DUI. The investigation is being handled by the California Highway Patrol.

According to CHP Officer Mike Lassig, the vehicle was a stolen vehicle and the driver was arrested for DUI.
