A monitor lizard probed the front door, trying to enter a home.

Footage shows the reptile lurking outside the house's entrance, looking like it was trying to search for a way inside in Bangkok, Thailand, on May 1.

It then crawled under a shoe rack when it sensed the resident walking on the other side of the glass to hide.

House owner Supawita said: 'The monitor lizard was clawing at the glass then hid under the shoe rack.'

Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Thailand. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.

The reptiles are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria. The Godzilla-like reptiles are also a protected species in the country so their population thrives.
