Passengers chanted 'Sachin, Sachin' when they spotted Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar on their budget flight.

The former player, 50, was visiting Kashmir in the economy class section of the Airbus A320 operated by IndiGo on February 21.

Footage shows adoring locals greeting the batsman, who captained the Indian national team, while he was with his wife Anjali Tendulkar and daughter Sara.

In a video captured during the flight, Sachin can be heard expressing his thanks to the passengers and flight attendants, who were delighted to have the veteran cricketer onboard.

'Thank you, thank you,' Sachin can be heard saying in a video.

The atmosphere on the aircraft was transformed into that of a stadium, with passengers turning the aisles into a lively celebration.

One fan can be heard wishing Tendulkar a happy journey, to which he responded with gratitude.

'Happy journey, sir,' a fan shouted as Tendulkar lowered to sit on his seat.

Tendulkar said Kashmir was 'the closest thing to heaven on earth' following his visit to the region, his first-ever trip there.

On the Srinagar-Jammu route, near Chersoo, Tendulkar visited a bat production facility where he engaged with the workers, learning about their craft and commending them for their dedication to producing high-quality bats.
