Helicopters battled to contain a wildfire in Mexico.

Footage shows the choppers flying over to the site to help control the massive blaze that had been raging for more than 20 hours in Ciudad Lopez Mateos.

The fierce fires ravaging the State of Mexico devastated natural reserves near the Zona Esmeralda of Atizapan de Zaragoza.

Local firefighters, with support from neighbouring municipalities, are battling the flames that have already scorched an estimated 45 hectares in the Parque de los Ciervos Reserve and Cerro de La Biznaga.

In response to the severity of the situation, Atizapan police have mobilized efforts to collect provisions for the frontline firefighters in Zona Esmeralda, highlighting the need for assistance as the firefight continues.

Meanwhile, the tragic toll of wildfires in the state has claimed the lives of three individuals, including Juan Diaz de Jesus, the leader of Probosque's brigade 712, and volunteer firefighters Leobardo Arroyo Gonzalez and Jesus Miranda Aguilar in a separate incident in Donato Guerra.

Two others have been reported injured. The area of Donato Guerra has been particularly hard-hit by the fires due to the prevailing drought conditions.

Reports from Probosque indicate that the entire region is facing the harsh reality of increased fire risk and devastation.

Across Mexico, 44 active wildfires have been reported in 12 states, bringing attention to the urgent need for enhanced fire prevention measures and resources. The National Forestry Commission (Conafor) has been closely monitoring the situation as authorities work tirelessly to bring the blazes under control and prevent further loss of life and natural habitats.
