A schoolgirl survived being accidentally stabbed with a pair of scissors in her skull in Thailand.

The youngster named Nong, 10, was walking past her little brother Tin, 4, when the boy, pretending to be a TV character, hurled the sharp object at her head on March 23.

The scissors pierced an inch into the girl's skull, and she was rushed to the Satuek Hospital in Buriram province. She was later transferred to the Buriram Hospital, where doctors were able to safely remove the object from her head.

Her grandfather Jaroon Royram, 50, said he had been cutting iron and had left the siblings unattended.

He said: 'I told my granddaughter to keep away from my workspace because she might be hit by pieces of metal. Shortly after, I heard her screaming and crying.

'I ran over to see what was happening and found the scissors lodged in the side of her head.'

Jaroon added he had tried to remove the scissors himself, but they were embedded firmly in the girl's skull.

Local media reported that the girl had stayed at the hospital for two days before being discharged. She is now recovering at home.

Relative Pimyada said the girl's brother had been pretending to be a TV drama character at the time and had thrown the pair of scissors at his sister when she refused to play with him.
