Unidentified illuminating object spotted soaring through northern China skies
An unidentified flying object was captured streaking across the sky in northern China.
The mysterious video was filmed in Heihe City in Heilongjiang Province on March 25.
Resembling the trail of a rocket launch, the luminous object left a long tail and featured jet-like fins at its rear, sparking speculation of a comet sighting.
On March 26th, meteorite expert Li Bofang analysed the footage, suggesting that the unidentified flying object had penetrated Earth's atmosphere. "This isn't a comet," Li stated, "Comets orbit the sun and don't move visually as fast as this; nor is it a meteorite, as meteorites typically cease emitting light seconds after entering the atmosphere."
Li hypothesised that the phenomenon was likely the result of debris from a man-made spacecraft re-entering Earth.
Further analysis was provided by Liu Rui of the Heilongjiang Provincial Astronomical Society, who suggested two potential explanations. "Firstly, it could be a fireball meteor," Liu explained, "which emits light due to friction with the atmosphere during its descent. Secondly, there were solar storms on March 24th, 25th, and 26th, resulting in geomagnetic storms. These storms could affect electrical systems, aerospace, and communications. It's possible that some spacecraft may have been affected by these geomagnetic storms, causing phenomena like what was observed in the sky. Therefore, there is no need for panic."
The video was provided by local media with permission.
