A hungry monitor lizard was caught stealing a dried fish.

Nutchanok Tawesinsupan witnessed the reptile scampering away with a neighbour's snack in Bang Phli Yai, Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan, Thailand, on May 12.

Footage shows the reptile getting off from the table where the dried fish were left to sun-dry. It then devoured a piece of the sun-dried fish and sauntered away.

Nutchanok said: 'My neighbour left the fish to dry in the sun unattended, and the lizard stole one of them.'

Monitor lizards can often be seen roaming around cities in Thailand. They are protected species and enjoy an elevated status.
