In a daring act of protest, two individuals were arrested after scaling construction equipment in opposition to the development of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center, earning the nickname "Cop City."

In the early hours of March 27th, 2024, Atlanta Police and City of Atlanta Fire Rescue Department teams were summoned to 660 11th Street NW following reports of a protest. Upon arrival, authorities encountered Parker Demos, 23, and Frederick Hetzel, 22, who had trespassed onto an active construction site and secured themselves to a crane using a makeshift locking mechanism known as a "Sleeping Dragon."

Responding officers swiftly mobilized to safely remove Demos and Hetzel from their precarious perch without incident. Initial findings suggest that their actions were a direct response to the construction of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center.

Both individuals face a litany of charges, including Criminal Trespass, False Imprisonment, Obstruction, and Reckless Conduct. They were subsequently transported to the Fulton County Jail for processing.
