Hezbollah militants in Lebanon fired rockets on Wednesday into northern Israel in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes that killed seven people in southern Lebanon.

The Israeli military said its strikes targeted a military building, killing a member of the al-Jamaa al-Islamiya militant group that had promoted terrorist plots targeting Israel.

The cross-border violence is the latest exchange to occur as Israel carries out its campaign aimed at eliminating the Hamas terrorist group, an ally of Hezbollah, in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli Army also reported Wednesday that it conducted ground operations in the Shifa Hospital area in northern Gaza, while also carrying out airstrikes and ground fighting in the Khan Younis area in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. Loop.

The war began with the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on October 7 that killed 1,200 people by Israeli counts and led to the capture of about 250 hostages. More than 100 were freed in November during a temporary ceasefire.

The Health Ministry of the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip says more than 32,400 people have been killed during Israel's counteroffensive. The total includes Hamas fighters and civilians, and the ministry says two-thirds of the dead are women and children.
