Chinese consumer electronics maker Xiaomi launched its highly anticipated electric vehicle, with promises of deliveries by April.

The standard version of SU7, a sporty four-door sedan, is priced at 215.9 thousand yuan, or 30 thousand U.S. dollars.

The launch marks the tech company's entry to the world’s largest EV market, which is growing quickly, but is already crowded.

In 2021, Xiaomi CEO and founder Lei Jun announced the company's ambition to make cars.

The company is also looking to create an ecosystem that connects its smartphone, home appliances and cars.

Lei Jun, Xiaomi CEO and Founder:

"Intelligentization is the key to success in smart EV market competition. With our 14 years of experience in smartphone manufacturing, we are well-equipped to apply smartphone technology to our cars."
