China announced the decision to establish Xiong'an New Area on April 1, 2017, with the aim of developing the area into a modern city that is green, intelligent, livable and competitive by 2035.

Darina Semenova visits Xiong'an to experience the convenience of community life here.

"Hello everyone. I'm Darina from Hebei University. I came to China for learning Chinese, and of course I like to travel in China a lot. Today I came to Xiong'an New Area, the 'future city' in China. New communities in Xiong'an are designed to be convenient. People living here used to be villagers, but now they can enjoy modern urban facilities with a walk of less than 15 minutes. Now I am in Rongxi area which contains nearly 40,000 residents. Healthcare, education, entertainment... All these services are available in a neighborhood."

"Now I'm in an activity center for the elderly in Rongxi area.
Sports and cultural facilities are provided to the elderly for free. You can find all kinds of entertainment in the center such as dancing, calligraphy and others. More than 100 people over 60 years old come here every day."

"Last year, on January 6, the first community healthcare center in Xiong'an New Area came into service. Let's go inside and have a look at the center."

"Welcome to Xianxi community health service center. Our community health service center came into service on January 6, 2023. We receive more than 500 visits each day. All the common diseases of children and the elderly can be taken care of in our health service center. Residents don't need to resort to the higher-level hospital.
Here are some projects that allow residents to experience traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). This one is for health nurturing practices by the hour. You can push a button. For example, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., this screen shows the practices for nurturing health during this period of the day. It can also allow people to experience the TCM practices.

"For today, I'm in a kindergarten. More than 470 children from 4 nearby residential areas study in the kindergarten located in the same area. They usually get home within 5 minutes.
In the big and bright classroom, kids are taking courses. Hallways are decorated with handcraft works made by the kids, traditional Chinese tie-dyeing cloths and many other interesting things. Outdoors, children enjoy a variety of hands-on programs.
Those are just a part of the colorful and convenient life enjoyed by citizens in Xiong'an, a people-oriented city. Come and have a look by yourself."
