A squirrel got a helping hand after it found itself stuck down a sewage drain.

Grace Robinson, 19, was left dumbfounded when she noticeD a bushy tail poking out from the drain outside her house.

Grace initially didn't know what she was looking at so she went outside to investigate - only to find a sopping wet squirrel staring back at her.

Grace leapt into action and lodged a stick through the drain holes for the rodent to cling onto and climb up to free itself.

Grace, an artist from Rackheath in Norfolk, said: "I get so many squirrels on my bird feeders eating all the seed so squirrels aren't usually my friends."

"But on this occasion, I knew I had to step in to save one."

"I was just so confused why it even went down the drain in the first place, he was soggy!"

Thanks to Grace's efforts, the squirrel made its way up the stick and through the drain before hopping away into the woodlands opposite completely unharmed.
