Controversy arises as rats found in Chinese restaurant's refrigerated display case
On March 30th, in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, a restaurant named "Kua Fu Skewer Shop" faced controversy as several rats were spotted inside the refrigerated display case, hopping around food trays that had been set aside for ingredients. Some trays still contained food residue. In response, the owner of the implicated shop stated that according to company regulations, any unsold ingredients from that day had already been discarded. The rats were seen crawling on empty trays, and due to the restaurant's proximity to a river, rats were more common in the area. The owner assured that they conduct pest control measures daily.
On March 31st, the implicated Kua Fu Skewer Shop responded, stating they were unaware of how the three rats entered the premises, claiming they had not encountered such a situation before. They argued that if rats were present in their shop, they would likely be present in other establishments on the same street. The shop's facilities are cleaned daily by designated staff, and regular pest control measures are implemented. They also announced plans to temporarily close the shop for rectification.
As of now, local food safety authorities have yet to respond to the incident.
