STORYLINE:

An exhibition on Shanghai intangible heritage paintings opened on Tuesday in the Sydney Opera House in Australia.

As an important representative of Shanghai intangible cultural heritage, Jinshan farmer paintings were born out of folk artists' experience of rural life. They are characterized by graphic shape, bright colors and full composition.

Thousands of Jinshan farmer paintings have been exhibited in China and in the United States, Britain, Japan, France, Germany, Canada and other countries, becoming an important link for cross-cultural communication.

SOUNDBITE (English): DAVID VAN NUNEN, Australian Watercolor Institute President
"They painted beautifully well. There is lovely sense of colors, and dynamics seen in the picture. That's really important for us to see here in Australia. Such dynamic and resourceful history in China. It affects and influences us from all around the world."

Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Sydney, Australia.
