Cool footage has emerged from South Carolina of a drone crashing into a fast-flowing river.

The filmer was getting his drone into position to record a kayak race in Columbia when his quadcopter hit a power line and plummeted into the Congaree River.

After a few moments the pilot managed to take off from the water and fly back to safety.

"When the quadcopter hit the water it knocked off the protective casing I had protecting the electronics. Its amazing it didn't break or short out anything," the filmer later wrote online

I was getting my drone in position to film a kayak race. I didn't see the power lines from my fpv goggles until it was to late because the wireless feed I get back is in SD quality. I managed to miss the first one by going over it but because it was a row of lines hanging at various heights I couldn't avoid the next one. When the quadcopter hit the water it nocked off the protective casing I had protecting the electronics. Its amazing it didn't break or short out anything. All I had to do was rearm the flight controller to get it to fly again. I custom built this drone to have collapsible arms so when it made it back to me I was surprised that despite not breaking anything one of the arms was out of alignment with the others and yet it still flew back.
