Taiwan earthquake rescuers search collapsed building in epicentre

Firemen search through a collapsed home following an earthquake that killed at least four people in Taiwan this morning.

The rescue crews are seen in the video sifting through the rubble inside the titled property in Hualien, close to the epicentre of the magnitude 7.4 quake.

Officials said the earthquake struck at around 7.58 am local time off the east coast of the country triggering tsunami warnings in Taiwan and neighbouring Japan and the Philippines. The epicentre was around 18 kilometers (11 miles) south of the city of Hualien.

Taiwan's national fire agency said that four people died in Hualien. A fire department official said that two buildings had collapsed and 'some people are believed to be trapped'.

Officials said more than 50 people are believed to have been injured in the earthquake.
