About a dozen volunteers associated with the China-Pakistan Youth Exchange Community (CPYEC) and other Chinese charity organizations have been distributing food items and arranging iftar dinners for locals during Ramadan in Pakistan.

"Considering the balance of nutrition, in addition to rice, we will also serve naan and other staples. There are also many kinds of fruits, such as bananas, apples, melons, strawberries, and so on. We also serve drinks and yogurt."

The food provided by the Chinese volunteers includes fruits, vegetables, juice, dates, and traditional Pakistani dish.

Wang Jing, a Chinese volunteer, said the donations for the food came from people in China and the Chinese community in Pakistan.

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): WANG JING, Chinese volunteer
"I think that by organizing such an event, firstly, from a grassroots perspective, it can better help them understand that we Chinese care about and cherish their concerns. They can also learn about the friendship between our two countries and gain a deeper understanding of the foundation of our China-Pakistan friendship. This may help strengthen the friendship between China and Pakistan."

According to CPYEC, the volunteers began organizing Ramadan iftar meal donation activities in Pakistan in 2017 and have provided iftar dinners for more than 60,000 Pakistani people.
