STORYLINE:

The China-Africa Internet Development and Cooperation Forum was held on Tuesday in Xiamen City, east China's Fujian Province.

Around 400 delegates from China and 20 African nations along with international organizations, universities, media, and other entities participated in the event.

Some African countries' officials expressed their hope for further cooperation between China and Africa in the digital field.

"Our expectation will still be further cooperation as well as mutual support that will enhance the development of internet access. Certainly, the digital economy in China is well-developed. So we have a lot to learn from China and we have some forms of expectations in the years ahead so that we can also increase access of the average citizens in Nigeria, in Africa, to internet opportunities."

"We are expecting to actually work on digital literacy, cyber security, and also artificial intelligence. China, as a country which has already put in place several solutions on AI. We are very much interested in having and building cooperation on AI governance with China. We also want to work toward digital infrastructure building and we have seen China as a leading country regarding digital technologies."
