In response to the ongoing situation at Key Bridge, a Unified Command has taken decisive action to facilitate the movement of commercially essential vessels. The U.S. Coast Guard Aids to Navigation Team (ANT) Baltimore, in collaboration with other agencies, has implemented a second temporary alternate channel in the Patapsco River, Baltimore, Maryland.

On April 2, 2024, ANT Baltimore crews embarked on a critical mission to mark the new channel with buoy markers. These markers serve as vital navigational aids, guiding essential vessels safely through the waterway amidst the wreckage at Key Bridge.
