In a harrowing ordeal on the evening of March 31, 2024, the Henry-1 helicopter sprang into action following a distress call from the Southern Marin Fire District. The call, received around 7:40 PM, alerted authorities to a precarious situation: a subject had fallen from a cliff near the Alexander Battery within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

The victim found themselves stranded approximately 50-60 feet down from the trail, desperately clinging to the gravel rock face. With time of the essence, Henry-1 wasted no time, swiftly arriving at the scene to assess the situation.

Utilizing its advanced thermal imaging camera, Henry-1 located the stranded individual amidst the rugged terrain. The helicopter then landed nearby, readying itself for a daring long-line rescue operation.

Under the expert guidance of the Tactical Flight Officer (TFO), the helicopter executed a precise maneuver to deploy a rescue device to the victim. With nerves of steel, the TFO secured the individual before both were airlifted to safety atop the cliff.

Upon reaching the summit, the rescued victim was promptly handed over to awaiting fire personnel for urgent medical evaluation.
