Parrot takes hours to recover after suffering electric shock while chewing wires
This astonishing video shows a parrot taking more than two hours to recover after it was paralysed from an electric shock.
Smartphone footage recorded in the city of Shenzhen in Guangdong, China, showed the bird struggling to maintain balance on April 31.
The parrot can be seen swinging its head back and forth while lying in its owner's palm, and repeatedly falling while attempting to walk.
It followed after the bird chewed on several wires around the home, including its owner's charging cable, and then went limp after being shocked by electricity.
The owner added: 'Silly child. It bit the wire and electroshocked itself. Took almost two minutes to come back to life.
'After waking up, it couldn't stand steadily, kept shaking its head. It took two hours to fully recover.'
However, despite taking quite some time to go back to normal, the pet parrot then continued chewing wires, without having learned from the painful experience, said the owner.
