This is the dramatic moment a speeding pickup truck cartwheeled in front of a house in Thailand.

CCTV footage shows the vehicle screeching off the road and rolling over onto a front yard in Nakhon Si Thammarat on March 24.

A family of five inside were rescued. They were identified by police as Daret, 51, Chalermpol, 30, Sukanya, 25, Lalisa, 2, and the driver Sanit Plaikaew who was severely injured.

A Chawang Police Station spokesman said: 'The driver was believed to be driving at high speed on the wet and slippery road, causing him to lose control. A more thorough investigation is ongoing.'

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
