Sheriff's Deputy Rescues Woman from Canal in Lehigh Acres, USA
This footage was filmed and produced 30 March 2024.
A deputy with the Lee County Sheriff's Office emerged as a hero on Saturday after a daring rescue mission in Lehigh Acres, Florida. Responding to a distress call, the deputy wasted no time in pulling a woman to safety from a canal near Genoa Avenue South, close to SR-82.
The woman's plight was first noticed by a family enjoying a horseback ride on the opposite side of the canal. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to reach her due to the water's depth. Swiftly recognizing the urgency of the situation, they dialed 911, providing crucial information to aid in the rescue effort.
Sheriff Carmine Marceno commended the quick thinking of the bystanders, noting that their guidance proved invaluable in directing the deputy to the precise location of the distressed woman.
Captured on video, the footage depicts the deputy fearlessly wading into the water and pulling the woman to safety without hesitation.
Acknowledging the deputy's heroic efforts, Marceno expressed gratitude for his swift response, which undoubtedly saved the woman's life. As investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident unfold, authorities remain committed to unraveling the events that led to the woman's perilous predicament.
