Wind uproots marquees and umbrellas in Thailand heat wave
Strong wind uprooted marquees and umbrellas amid heat waves in Thailand.
Footage shows at least eight parasols flying in the sky as they were lifted by gusts at a market in Phu Sang District, Phayao province on April 3.
One of the objects landed on an electric pole which caused an explosion.
Onlooker Puchada Nailop said: ‘I was with my friend Noppaklao Suriytong at the market when it happened.
;That day, the storm came but the strong winds pulled the umbrellas first. It was so scary.'
The Meteorological Department of Thailand (TMD) warned of intense heat across the country along with thunderstorms expected in ten provinces.
They said a high-pressure system in the north was causing the heat wave.
The capital recorded temperatures of 40C while the North was even higher at 42C. While in the south of the country, heavy rainfall with choppy seas was expected in the coming days.
