Storyline:
Caravans of migrants are trekking across southern Mexican state of Chiapas, in an attempt to reach the United States where immigration is a major issue in the presidential election in November.

A caravan of more than 2,000 weary migrants settled at a plaza in Chiapas's Pijijiapan Town after walking nearly 30 kilometers on the day. They plan to take a rest there for the next few days.

One of the group's leaders, Cecilio Roches, a Garifuna from Honduras, explained how the caravans protect these unauthorized travelers.

On the same day, a number of dispersed groups of migrants traveled along a coastal highway amid scorching heat. The exhausted trekkers received water from government officials at a nearby town.

Venezuelan migrant Lumerli Carolina Martinez, who is traveling with her husband and two children, shared what the caravan means for her and her family.
