This footage was filmed and produced 6 April 2024.

Police did not allow pro-Palestinian students who wanted to march on Istiklal Street in Istanbul's Taksim district, demanding that the Turkish government and Turkish companies stop trade with Israel. The police blocked the students walking on the street, chanting slogans, and beat and detained many students.

Huseyin Arif: Whenever we say "cut off trade with Israel,"  the police gather in front of us like this. While genocide is being committed in Gaza, they tell us, "This is not the way to do it." You can see the police blockade around us. This is similar to the Israeli blockade of the Palestinian people. We have been trying to explain this from the very beginning. While bombs are raining down on people all the time during Ramadan, when we want to protest this and walk to the Trade Directorate, the police come and surround us.

Huseyin Arif: Where were you when people were being massacred? Where were you when people were being massacred and Zorlu Holding was providing electricity to those who murdered them? Where do you stand against those who provide them with cement? Where are you against those who supply them with steel and feed the invaders in the production of weapons?

01:52:55 - 01:58:13
Huseyin Arif: Standing against genocide means drying up the veins that feed them.
