STORYLINE:

Locals are reviving traditional games in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia.

The games, including Blikkies volmaak and Amagoes, were the key highlights of an event hosted Saturday by the Windhoek Municipality.

Both games involve throwing a ball towards the contesting team in the center on the sandy ground, who loses once the ball touches them.

Children and adults enjoyed the games which focus on teamwork, mathematical teachings, and strategy. The event attracted around 30 teams.

SOUNDBITE (English): LYDIA AMUTENYA, Windhoek City spokesperson
"They bring people together and also promote an active lifestyle as well as healthy habits. Celebrating our diverse culture, this is also part of our culture, the things we used to do in our heyday and we also need to show off our skills to the young ones on how we used to play these games."
