Israeli troops were withdrawn from southern Gaza in preparation for a possible operation in the city of Rafah, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), warned on Sunday that they would target the Israeli army if it re-enters the Gaza Strip.

"As the war on Gaza marks its sixth months today Sunday, the Israeli army announced it had withdrawn its forces from the western parts of Khan Younis City in southern Gaza today after months of intense fighting in its bloody offensive on the enclave. Meanwhile, Hamas and the Israeli delegations travelled to Egypt for a new round of peace talks and negotiations aiming at securing another round of hostage release and fighting pause after the first pause of fighting occurred in November.
Two brigades will stay in the northern part of Gaza Strip as the Israeli military said it is needed to preserve the freedom of the Israeli army's actions and its ability to conduct precise intelligence-based operations."
