Thousands of devotees took bath in Ganga on Somvati Amavasya (New Moon), women circled Ficus tree for long life of their husbands
From early morning, devotees kept arriving at Sangam Ghat and after taking bath in Ganga, they worshipped Lord Surya and Lord Vishnu. With chanting of mantras, the devotees offered water at the ghat and worshipped and donated food grains and clothes to the needy. Somvati Amavasya falls on Monday, a day before Chaitra Navratri. Women have observed fast and wrapped thread for unbroken good fortune.
