This footage was filmed and produced 7 April 2024.

April started positively for the reservoirs in Ceara, and much of Brazil, after the latest rainfall was recorded. There are already 41 monitored dams overflowing in Ceara. Another 17 reservoirs are at more than 90 per cent of their total capacity.

In the early hours of Friday morning (05), the dam in the municipality of Quixeramobim also reached its maximum level and began to "bleed", as the inhabitants of the South American country call the overflow of the same, a phenomenon that occurs for the second consecutive year after more than 10 years of drought.

The population awaited the "bleeding" of the reservoir with great expectation. In the city the atmosphere is festive and full of joy and from today the dam will gather a large number of visitors to take pictures and videos of the "bloodletting" to remember this special moment.

According to state monitoring, the supply of water to the reservoirs of Ceara occurs mainly in the quarters of March, April and May, with April being the month that historically registers the highest volume supplied.

This footage illustrates various parts of the dam overflowing with water.
