Devotees escaped a tragedy after a 120-foot-tall temple chariot collapsed during a procession in Huskur, Karnataka, on April 6.

The incident happened during Madduramma Devi Jatre festivities when the chariot was being pulled by bulls and tractors.

An official, who requested to remain anonymous, said: "Initially the procession ran smoothly but there was trouble when the path transitioned from the paved road to a rugged dirt track. It was then the disaster struck, as one of the wheels of the chariot veered off the tarmac, sinking into the soft soil."

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
