STORYLINE:

Chinese stories have caught the eyes of the visitors at the Bologna Children's Book Fair, which is underway from Monday to Thursday in the central Italian city of Bologna.

In its 61st edition, the annual book fair is a major international forum for publishers, authors and illustrators of children's literature to exchange ideas, forge bonds and select partners.

Over 1,500 exhibitors from about 100 countries and regions attend this year's fair.

Chinese exhibitors are deeply involved in the exhibition, hosting several activities to accelerate Chinese children's books to go overseas and strengthen the cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between China and the West.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): LIU FURONG, Sales Director of Guangdong Yuntang Industrial Co., Ltd.
"The book fair allows Chinese enterprises to go international and learn about the demand of Western countries in the book industry. It helps us to improve the quality of our books and services, including the design and aesthetics of children's books. I expect that Chinese books could sell to all over the world and children abroad could see more books with Chinese elements."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Italian): AUDREY LORENZINI, Publisher
"I am very interested in Chinese culture and also in bringing it to Italy and the European market. I think it is very interesting to look at what is done in China and also at the level of classic stories or a way of seeing certain things and bringing them to Italy."

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): TASSIES, Illustrator
"I find it very, very interesting and this year especially, because there's a focus on China, and then for me, it's a fantastic opportunity, to get to know people and your (Chinese) culture also."
