STORYLINE:
Israel said it launched air strikes on eastern Lebanon and hit Hezbollah military complex and infrastructure sites on Sunday after the militant group downed an Israeli drone.
Earlier, the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah announced that it had shot down an Israeli Hermes 900 drone over Lebanese territory with a surface-to-air missile.
Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border escalated on Oct. 8, 2023, following a barrage of rockets launched by the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah toward Israel in solidarity with Hamas' attack on Israel the day before.
The confrontations between Hezbollah and Israel have killed at least 417 people on the Lebanese side, including 265 Hezbollah members and 74 civilians, according to Lebanese security sources.
