A scooter appeared to drive itself in India.

Footage shows the electric two-wheeler from Ola company with model name ‘Solo' cruising along a garage without a rider in Bangalore on April 2.

Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Agarwal said: 'Solo is fully autonomous, AI-enabled, and a traffic-smart scooter. Hail a ride or drive your own Solo. We will disrupt ride-hailing and local commerce.

'The technology behind it is something we've been working on and have prototyped. It shows the kind of pioneering work our engineering teams are capable of.

The Bangalore-based electric vehicle company equipped AI, Quickie.Ai, and an internal microprocessor called LMAO9000 on the scooter to enable it to make quick decisions.

The microprocessor analyses real-time traffic data to simplify street navigation for users. The company also highlighted that Ola Solo is designed to learn from each ride through its adaptive system.

It will feature 22-language support voice-activated AI technology for enhanced user experience. To ensure safety, the scooter will come equipped with a helmet activation system and facial recognition technology.

It also has a summon function, which allows users to request driverless transport through the Ola app.
