Chinese resident stunned after discovering blade embedded in soap bar
A resident was stunned after discovering a blade embedded in a soap bar in southern China.
The shocking video was filmed in Chongqing on April 9. A woman named Hu struggled to remove a partially used soap's protruding blade, approximately 2 centimetres in length, embedded within.
Hu captured the video evidence of a dangerous discovery within what should have been an ordinary bar of Safeguard soap. Her husband, while showering, felt a sharp pain and to their horror, found a blade embedded within the soap.
Initially mistaking it for a wire scrub or similar, the fully exposed blade upon rinsing left them in disbelief. Fortunately, Hu's husband escaped injury.
Despite reaching out to consumer services and seeking a response from Safeguard, their concerns initially went unanswered.
By noon on April 10th, Mrs. Hu publicly thanked the community for their support, explaining that the retailer was now liaising with the distributor for a response, emphasising the incident as a cautionary tale rather than borne out of malice.
Safeguard's customer service responded the morning of April 10th, stating such incidents were rare, with product safety and quality being paramount. The company assured that all Safeguard products undergo rigorous quality checks to meet regulatory standards, with a dedicated PR department set to address the issue further.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
