This is the heartwarming moment a mother's dreams of having a pony finally come true.

Juanita Mendoza had dreamed of having a pet pony since she was a child, but like many women, had let her fantasy pass.

However, she had a touching reaction when her children surprised her by having the equine delivered to her farm in Davao, the Philippines on April 5.

Footage shows Juanita meeting her new pet, later named Spirit, for the first time. She jumped and waved for joy while crying as the pony arrived on the back of a pickup truck.

She was introduced to the pony by letting it feed on the grass while she slowly walked closer holding its reins until she patted the side of its neck to say hi.

Her daughter Geia said: 'My mum's dream finally came true. She always wanted a horse.

‘Now she finally has one. Spirit was so cute and gentle. My mum's life is complete.'
