A quick-thinking excavator driver saved a house and the livestock from a massive fire in northwestern China.

Video filmed in Karamay City in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region on April 8, shows a man named Tan, who has six years of driving experience, skilfully operating his machine to scoop up soil to extinguish the fire.

While working at a construction site, Tan noticed a nearby house was on fire. Without hesitation, he drove the excavator over to help extinguish the flames.

The owner of the burning house had donkeys and cows, and thanks to the quick action of Tan, they did not suffer significant losses.

Tan remarked in local reports that the fire was caused by ageing electrical circuits.
